SPLENDID CONTRASTS
Land and sea, light and shadows, Venice and Rome. The Centurion Palace, which
is the Sina Group’s newest property, is an intriguing play of contrasts. The façade
in airy Venetian Gothic style, like a beautiful piece of old lace, conceals modern
accents, design features, strong colours and the unique atmosphere inside the
hotel.
We are in one of Venice’s oldest districts, next to the Basilica of Santa Maria
della Salute, between the Punta della Dogana and the Peggy Guggenheim Museum with
direct access to the Grand Canal, and facing the spectacular vista of St. Marks’s
and the Giudecca.
And here, right in the heart of Venice, Rome beckons us. Because during the restoration
on the building they unearthed a money of Antinous, a favourite of the Roman emperor
Hadrian, in whose honour this hotel was named the Centurion Palace.
