SWIMMING WITH THE ETRUSCANS
The story of the Hotel Brufani Palace, which was inaugurated in 1884 by Mr Giacomo
Brufani, starts in the swimming pool. Because it is here, under the Medieval vaults
of the ancient Rocca Paolina fortress that the glass bottom of the pool reveals
the splendid Etruscan ruins which were brought to light during the restoration
of the building.
And so the ancient Etruscan people join illustrious guests for a swim at any
time of year. And a peek at the guest book will reveal how this sumptuous property
has welcomed such famous personalities as Charlie Chaplin, the Queen Mother, Rita
Levi Montalcini, Anthony Hopkins and Bruce Springsteen, to mention just a few.
From the balconies and the panoramic terrace of the hotel, which is right in
the Medieval heart of Perugia, the eye embraces the entire city and the valleys
of Umbria which lead to the nearby charming little towns of Spello, Assisi, Gubbio,
Todi e Orvieto.
